Compound Hunting Bows

How to Make Better Compound Bow Buying Decisions

The goal of every hunter, is to be able to hit the target as often as possible during a hunting trip. That sounds like a really simple, and non-ambitious goal on paper. But in reality, achieving accuracy in bow hunting demands a lot of patience, sound decisions, practice, and knowledge. These elements are, of course, not mutually exclusive. So the best bow hunters know how to integrate all of these skills together. For example, knowing how a compound bow works doesn't translate into hitting more deer unless the hunter goes out to actually apply the knowledge and carry out lots of shooting practices. As you will probably learn soon, experience is very important when it comes to hunting. And not everyone has the patience to wait for the fruits to bear.

Therefore, it is important for any new bow hunters to get as much help as they can get. And the first problem that a new hunter needs to overcome, is to choose the right bow. If he or she chooses a bow that's not unsuitable, chances are, the new hunter may give up. After all, it's not fun to keep missing targets all the time, and pretty soon, anyone who keeps doing that will lose interest in the sport.

So if you're new to compound bow hunting, and want to buy your first new compound bow, then there's some homework to be done. Make sure that you take at least one trip to a local bowyer to determine your measurements and draw for your bow. modern compound bows are designed very differently from traditional recurve bows and are sized differently. Plus, bow manufacturers like to make their products sound as if they are so technologically advanced that as to have been designed by aliens. Bow manufacturers advertised their products this way because they know that hunters are looking out for that technological edge. You see, if you understand that the sport is difficult to master from the onset, you know that you need all the help you can get. We've already mentioned that earlier, but now, we also know that the bow manufacturers also know this. And they will stop at nothing to capitalize on this fact. So don't believe everything you see on the advertisements. As a new hunter, what you need most is a bow that'll suit your body frame, strength, and skill level. If you buy the wrong bow, thinking that the technology will get you the results you want, then you may be in for a rude shock. It's like a new driver looking to buy the latest racing car, thinking that the car will somehow improve their driving skills. The fact is, no, it won't happen that way.

To make matters worse, most new hunters like to focus on power and speed when buying a new compound bow. But what they don't understand is that bows, unlike cars, do not generate energy. The energy from cars come from the engines, so if you buy a car with a powerful engine, you'll get more power. But for a bow, regardless of how advanced a the bow is, the energy still comes from you. There is no engine to power the tool. Only you, the hunter, is behind the bow, drawing the strings. So don't make the mistake of thinking that a more powerful bow will make your arrows go faster. It won't. And if you buy the wrong bow, it means you're probably trading in control and comfort for a little more speed. And that, is what we call a bad trade because if you can't hit the target, it doesn't matter how powerful or fast your shot is.

It is being overly-ambitious to try to tackle this topic in a single article because much more goes into choosing a compound arrow. But power is the first thing that comes to mind, especially for new hunters going for a new bow. So bear the above advice in mind, do a little more research, and you'll come much closer to getting your perfect compound bow.

How do you remove an aluminum hunting arrow from your shoulder?
My brother and I were playing in the back yard with my dad's compound hunting bow. My brother put an apple on my head and tried to shoot it. I didn't think that he was actually going to shoot at me, so I just stood there like an idiot. Now i've got this stupid arrow sticking out of my back. How do I get it out? Please hurry and answer, as my parent will be home soon. And one more thing, how do you get blood off of a keyboard?
