Self Guided Mule Deer Hunts - Good Places to Go Mule Deer Hunting in Utah

Self Guided Mule Deer Hunts

Utah has almost always been a great place to hunt mule deer and has produced some of the biggest trophies ever taken in world. All you have to do is walk through Cabela's in Lehi, Utah and admire all the many mule deer trophies that Utah produced over the last hundred years and you'll begin to understand why.

Now how about the best places to go hunting mule deer in Utah? Obviously the best areas are the limited entry draw areas that require you to put in for the yearly draw, which you can accumulate points each year that you don`t draw upping your chances next year. Of course there are some great areas to hunt on public land as well and next time we`ll get into those.

1. Henry Mountains: Over the last 3 or 4 years the Henry Mountains have become the best place in the world to hunt trophy world class mule deer. All you have to do is simply type in "henry mountains mule deer" into Google and do a search to see that what I'm talking about is 100% true. More 200" bucks come off this unit than any other place currently in the world. Self Guided Mule Deer Hunts

2. The Book Cliffs: If you`re looking for a great buck that will score between 150" and 180" with a good possibility if you put in the effort to find one that will score over 200", than the Book Cliffs is the place to be. Anyone who has ever gone down to the Book Cliffs almost always ends up seeing between 100 to 200 bucks a day and that`s if you`re not even trying.

3. Paunsaugunt: Last but not least the legendary Paunsaungunt. This area has been the stuff mule deer dreams are made out of for many of the last decades and has and still produces record book bucks. However over the last decade there has been some what of a decline in the number of bucks, for what reason is any one`s guess and is always a heated debate amongst hunters. I still rate this unit number 2 or 3 in Utah though. Self Guided Mule Deer Hunts

I am looking for a deer hunting club for membership.?
I live in central california and would like to find something from that area. I am not looking for paid guided hunts or anything like that. I would like to find a hunting club that takes memberships for the year. Parkfield or Hollister area preferred but other suggestions are welcomed. Also, does anybody know anything about the Golden Ram Hunting Club. I currently belong to Wilderness Unlimited but I am unhappy with the opportunities they provide because you can't get in to areas that you want to hunt sometimes, and I feel it is just a waste of money.

Is my opinion of CZ too harsh?
About a year ago I was watching a random hunting show while lounging about. It was following the CZ CEO...I think it was the CEO, if she wasn't the president I know she was a high ranking person within the company...I know that 100% for sure. Anyways, she was hunting sheep on a guided hunt in Europe. They saw a nice ram about 150 yards out where she immediately pulled up and before a good, clean shot was offered she shot it right to the left of it's butt-hole. The animal did not fall right away and they had to wait for an untold amount of time for it to finally perish. Since I watched that everytime I see CZ mentioned I have a hard time stomaching how a high profile person could represent her company and the hunting world by taking such an unresponsible and unethical shot and then show it to the world on a TV show! I promised I would never purchase a CZ firearm after seeing that. Am I being to hard on the company for something that their manager has done? To Bigoil: I think I would rather shoot a lawyer in the ass than an animal....at least they deserve it....
